Regarding the Situation in Sudan
The Republic of Türkiye is deeply concerned about the deteriorating security situation in Sudan. We strongly condemn the recent attacks on civilians and peacekeepers in Darfur, which have resulted in numerous casualties.
We express our condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. We call on all parties to immediately cease hostilities and to respect international humanitarian law.
Türkiye supports the efforts of the United Nations-African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) to protect civilians and to facilitate a peaceful resolution to the conflict. We call on all parties to cooperate with UNAMID and to allow it to carry out its mandate effectively.
We also welcome the recent appointment of a new Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Sudan and Head of UNAMID. We are confident that Mr. Jeremiah Mamabolo will bring his considerable experience and expertise to this important role.
Türkiye remains committed to supporting a peaceful and prosperous Sudan. We call on all parties to engage in dialogue and to work towards a comprehensive and lasting political solution to the conflict.
We urge the international community to provide continued support to Sudan and to the efforts of UNAMID. We believe that a stable and peaceful Sudan is essential for the stability of the region and for the well-being of its people.
