Statement by Minister Khera on Hindu Heritage Month
November 1, 2024
Ottawa, Ontario – The Honourable Bardish Chagger, Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth, today issued the following statement:
“During the month of November, we celebrate Hindu Heritage Month, a time to recognize the significant contributions of Hindu Canadians to our society, and to reflect on the diversity and richness of their culture.
Hinduism is one of the oldest and most diverse religions in the world, with a rich history and tradition. Hindu Canadians have played an integral role in shaping our country, contributing to our social, economic, and cultural fabric.
In recent years, we have seen a rise in anti-Hindu sentiment and discrimination. This is unacceptable and we must all work together to combat it.
During Hindu Heritage Month, let us reaffirm our commitment to building an inclusive and respectful society for all. Let us celebrate the diversity of our country and the contributions of all our citizens.
On behalf of the Government of Canada, I wish all Hindu Canadians a happy and meaningful Hindu Heritage Month.”
