Back to Basics Week also highlights the District’s food waste reduction programs, which aim to reduce the amount of food that ends up in landfills. Residents can participate in these programs by:
- Composting: Composting is the process of breaking down organic matter, such as food scraps and yard waste, into a nutrient-rich soil amendment. Residents can start their own compost piles or participate in the District’s composting drop-off program.
