Biography

Justice Mercer obtained a Bachelor of Arts (1980) from Acadia University and an LL.B. (1983) from Dalhousie University. He clerked for Justice P.J. O’Hearn of the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia prior to being called to the Bar of Nova Scotia in 1984.

Justice Mercer practiced as a lawyer with McInnes Cooper until 2011. He was a partner in the firm and practised in the areas of civil litigation and commercial law.

Justice Mercer was appointed a judge of the Nova Scotia Supreme Court in 2011.
