Washington, D.C. – Mayor Muriel Bowser is encouraging residents to participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will host the event from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at locations across the country, including multiple sites in the District of Columbia.
During the event, residents can safely and anonymously dispose of their expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs. The DEA and local law enforcement will be on hand to collect the drugs and ensure they are disposed of properly.
“Every day, thousands of Americans die from opioid overdoses,” said Mayor Bowser. “National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is an opportunity for us to come together as a community and get rid of these dangerous drugs.”
In the District of Columbia, there are 10 drop-off locations for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day:
