Minister LeBlanc Launches Call for Applications under National Crime Prevention Strategy
Ottawa, October 25, 2024 – The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Public Safety, today announced the launch of a Call for Applications under the National Crime Prevention Strategy (NCPS).
The NCPS is a five-year, $250 million federal initiative that supports community-based crime prevention programs across Canada. Through the Call for Applications, the Government of Canada is inviting organizations to submit proposals for projects that will address crime prevention priorities in their communities.
“Our government is committed to investing in evidence-based crime prevention measures that make our communities safer,” said Minister LeBlanc. “The National Crime Prevention Strategy provides funding to local organizations that are working to prevent crime and build safer communities.”
The Call for Applications is open to organizations that have a proven track record of delivering crime prevention programs. Eligible organizations include not-for-profit organizations, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and academic institutions.
Projects funded through the NCPS must address one or more of the following crime prevention priorities:
- Youth crime prevention
- Crime prevention in Indigenous communities
- Crime prevention through community engagement
- Preventing violence against women and girls
- Preventing hate crime
“The National Crime Prevention Strategy is an important tool for our community,” said Jane Doe, Executive Director of the XYZ Community Crime Prevention Centre. “We have used NCPS funding to support a variety of programs, including a youth mentorship program and a community patrol program. These programs have made a real difference in our community, and we are grateful for the support of the Government of Canada.”
The deadline to submit applications is January 15, 2025. Successful applicants will be notified in spring 2025.
