Ottawa, ON – Today, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) launched a new plain language toolkit to help workplaces improve the clarity and effectiveness of their health and safety communications.
“Clear communication is essential for workplace safety,” said Anne Tennier, President and CEO of CCOHS. “When workers can easily understand safety instructions and procedures, they are more likely to follow them, reducing the risk of injury or illness.”
The toolkit, titled “Spelling It Out for Safety: A Plain Language Toolkit for Workplaces,” provides practical guidance on how to write and communicate safety information in a way that is easy to understand. The toolkit includes:

- Examples of effective safety communications
- A checklist for reviewing safety documents
